President Jokowi Officially Opens Exchange Trading in 2023
PELITA DAILY — The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) Year 2023, at the Jakarta IDX Building, Monday (02/01/2023) morning was opened by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
The President expressed his gratitude because in 2022, the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) was able to grow positively amidst the decline experienced by exchanges in other countries.
“We should also be grateful that the index in 2022 has increased by 4.1 percent compared to stock exchanges in other countries which have experienced a very sharp decline,” said the President.
In addition, the President also appreciated stock trading which was able to record growth amidst the global economic turmoil.
“Market cap (market capitalization) also grew 15 percent to Rp 9,499 trillion. This is also not a small number, a big number in the midst of global economic turbulence in 2022,” he said.
The Head of State also expressed his joy, because 55 percent of investors in the stock exchange are currently under 30 years of age and 70 percent are under 40 years of age.
“That is, the prospects for the future are still very promising,” he said.
The President further stated that 2023 will be a test year for the global economy and the Indonesian economy. Therefore, even though he is optimistic, the President also emphasized that all parties remain careful and alert.
“We all have to be optimistic that we can solve the existing challenges and be able to go through 2023, the exam year, with a better economy,” he said.
The President also admitted that he was optimistic that Indonesia’s growth in 2023 could record a figure above five percent. ●Red/Alia
