
AFF Cup 2022: Myanmar Players Play Against Their Country, Sent Off From The Field
PELITA DAILY — Nanda Kyaw, Myanmar’s mainstay winger had to be sent off at the 2022 AFF Cup. The 26-year-old player got a red card after hitting an opposing player.
A red card was issued in the 2022 AFF Cup in Group B match between Singapore vs Myanmar. Thus tarnishing the Myanmar national team.
The duel between the two teams was held at Jalan Besar Stadium, Kallang, Singapore. The match took place on Saturday (24/12/2022) evening WIB.
Kyaw became the first player to receive a red card in the 2022 AFF Cup so that Myanmar was considered an unprofessional and embarrassing national team.
The rules in the AFF Cup confirm that players who get a red card cannot compete in the next match. This incident is expected to be a lesson for other players.
The two teams exchanged goals. Myanmar took the lead first in the 34th minute through Maung Maung Lwin. However, Singapore was able to equalize through Ilhan Fandi in the 45th minute.
In the end, Singapore was able to win the match with a score of 3-2. There were hot moments that occurred in the match. One of the Myanmar players named Nanda Kyaw got a direct red card for a fatal violation.
Myanmar also had to play with 10 people due to the incident. Nanda Kyaw was involved in an incident with Nur Muhammad Shahiran in the 80th minute.
Initially, the two players fought over the ball. Shahiran had pushed Kyaw. However, the Myanmar winger responded by hitting the Singapore midfielder in the stomach.
