
President Jokowi Welcomes Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the Bogor Palace
PELITA DAILY — Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) welcomed a state visit by the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyễn Xuân Phúc, Thursday (22/12/2022) morning, at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java.
Vietnam’s President Nguyễn Xuân Phúc c and his entourage arrived at the courtyard of the Bogor Presidential Palace at around 10.00 WIB accompanied by cavalry, troops in traditional attire, and the Marching Band of the Presidential Security Force (Paspampres).
Arriving at the forecourt of the Palace, President Nguyễn Xuân Phúc was immediately greeted by President Jokowi. The procession was then continued with a state ceremony by the singing of Vietnam’s national anthem Tiến Quân Ca and the national anthem of Indonesia Indonesia Raya accompanied by cannon shots 21 times.
Furthermore, the two leaders carried out an inspection of the ranks of honor. Then, the two leaders introduced the delegations of each country.
From Indonesia, among others, the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartanto, the Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security Mahfud MD, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno LP Marsudi, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif , Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Director General for Asia-Pacific and Africa, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdul Kadir Jailani, and Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Denny Abdi.
Meanwhile, the delegates from the Philippines included the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister of Defense, Deputy Minister of Public Security, Deputy Minister of Trade, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia.
After that, the two state leaders accompanied by their spouses headed to the Lotus Room to do a group photo session and sign the guest book. After chatting for a while on the veranda of the Bogor Presidential Palace, the two leaders planted trees together in the backyard of the Palace.
The tree planted is the Merawan Tree, which has strong wood characteristics and is threatened with extinction due to many species. ●Red/Alia
